I really should be more bothered by this...

Guess what I found on Youtube today while I was searching for BJD related videos? (Yeah, I was bored).  >_>

A boring post of dolly photos + forum pimpage

Realised I haven't pimped out any of the recent faceup commissions I did, plus I'm lacking in actual interesting content to post, so without further ado, here's some eye candy:

Quick question on Smash '09

Anyone on my F-list going to be at Smash in Sydney this August?

More importantly, any of you going to be involved in bjd panels?
Or have done a panel before?

Was asked to do/share a panel this year and may do it except this is my first time at such an event, and I have no clue about what goes on at a panel. @_@

[info]needoll ? [info]hiritai ? anyone else? ;3;

If I do anything, it'll probably be on photography; I can't talk on faceups cos live demos just freak me out and it will be muchly disastrous if I attempted it.

I may not end up doing anything, but shall still go anyway since I miss dorrie outings and it's like a friggin drought in Newcastle when it comes to doll activity <s>except for the meet this week! Much excitement about that!</s>.

Gonna win lottery soon!

Better buy myself some lotto tickets; I actually took dolly photos today! *O*

Now whether I'll ever upload them is another story.
Still have photos from my recent Melbourne trip to upload, including the many I took of the Zombie Shuffle. <3

(Oh, btw, HI MOM IF YOU'RE READING THIS! I know you are. Happy birthday!! xox)

OMG, I'm writing an entry about Blythes. XD

Yeah, weird shite, hey?
I just realised that even though I started out in the dolly hobby with these big headed/big eyed dolls, I haven't really mentioned them much here on eljay. XD

Anyways! I'm back in Melbourne at the moment for the next week or so, and the reason I'm here is because there's a Blythe exhibition opening this Friday at Robio, and I've got 2 photo prints that will be on display and sale then - thusly the mention. /pimp

It was fun to shoot a non-resin doll for a change - I remember how I used to photograph these girls almost daily, but that sort of waned when bjds and their awesome posing abilities came along. But Blythe's got that quirky charm though. <3

The shot above isn't one that's going to be in the exhibition - it's an outtake, but I love how she looks like she could be a model for Helmut Lang. X3

Soo, if any of you guys are going to be in Melbourne this Friday, do drop by Robio at 6pm for the opening of the exhibition - there'll be custom dolls, clothes, accessories, photo/artwork on display (and some of which are for sale). There's also going to be a door prize from Gina Garan (photographer who popularised Blythe)! The exhibition will be on for a week, but I'll be there only on Friday night with Kenn (Blythe in photo above) and Jelly (my YoTenshi Yuh). ;D

Random rambles

Have been busy with commissions lately, which is mostly fun, but can sometimes cause me to want to headdesk badly.

Photo is of a Pukipuki Lily that I'd recently finished for a local client; my first Puki! Go me! My breath-holding skills (while painting) has now been immensly improved with this faceup, freckles and all. XD

It's times like these that I want a Puki Madeleine. Or Lati White Belle. Or a Pocket Fairy Kitty. Or an adorable, but complete useless Rei-Tenshi. >.>

I had kangaroo for dinner tonight. The boy overcooked it. *sigh*

Cookie came to visit today (that's the kookaburra that frequently visits our backyard). I know the neighbour hand feeds it sometimes; makes me want to find some stuff to feed it too. -__-;;

By 9pm next Tuesday, I shall be back in Melbourne again!!! q(^_^)p
Am going to be back there for 10 days; partly for the Blythe exhibition that Robio's holding (and of which I'm going to have a few Blythe prints in, time permitting), and partly to catch up with friends and family again. I've missed them. ;3;

Bed tiemz nao. zzzzzzz.

Too tired to think of a subject line.

Just realised I haven't posted a photo of any of my own dolls in MONTHS. *facepalms*

So yeah, here. Have one of Poeme impersonating the Easter Bunny:

Went for my first doll meet (in Sydney!) since moving to NSW yesterday.
T'was awesome to see so many dolls and meet lots of lovely new faces!
Not sure if it'll help get me back into photographing my dolls since I still feel pretty much in a rut with that aspect, but it was good fun anyway to play dollies again.

@ Gallery Raw, Newcastle

Oh look, more shameless plugs for self. >.>

In case anyone of you guys are ever in the area (not likely I know, but hey, this gives you all a reason to come visit me), I currently have work as part of a photo exhibition titled, "It must be Art!" at Gallery Raw at the Hunter Street Mall in Newcastle.

The gallery was birthed from the original Renew Newcastle project, that set out to find short and medium term usage for disused shops and spaces in the Newcastle CBD, and the gallery is run by the Newcastle House of Photography.

The current exhibition showcases work from local professional and amateur photographers who are all Flickr members. There's 70 photos from about 20 photograhers on show, and all prints are available for purchase. Just for size reference, my prints are all 10" x 15", with a 3" width mat.

(P.S Am super chuffed that I managed to sneak a doll photo through the selection process too.)
Btw, this shot was taken at home before I sent them off to the gallery.

What I cooked for dinner last night. ;)

If anyone's interested, my take on the recipe can be found here on [info]minikitchen !

Shoyu ramen

Sorry for the non presentation; was just doing a test shot in the new kitchen.
Mmmm, natural light. ♥

Mar. 18th, 2009

We're in!!!!

Been slack and haven't been replying to comments here on LJ - so sorry, folk! m(_ _)m
(I only hope that me being busy with the move is enough reason? XD)

Anyhooooooos!

James and I (finally) moved into our new place last Saturday, and we've been busy getting things in order.

Here's a peek at our new kitchen, which is my current favourite space in the house:

I love how the house allows natural light to flood into every space in the house (all sorts of awesome for photography!). ♥

There's still lots of stuff to unpack and furniture to get, but since finances are stretched at the moment, we'll leave the 'wants' alone for the time being, and make do with what we have and go thrift hunting along the way.

As it turns out, there's hard rubbish collection days in our suburb and around the area staggered weekly for the next month or so, so hopefully, we can find some gems in other people's trash. *giggles*

Already, we've managed to pick up an awesome old GE radiogram/stereogram and 5 retro vinyl dining chairs. Haven't tested the radiogram to see if it works, but even if it doesn't, I can still rip out the equipment and use it as a pseudo-sideboard since it's got drawers and shelves. *sparkles*

Nearly there!

Finally started the whole house moving process this weekend - I know I've been in Newcastle for a month now, but the tenants at the place I'm moving into had only vacated the premises on Wednesday, so not much could be done about it.

Anyway, got most of the big(ish) furniture in yesterday and today. It's not much, since I'm not working at the moment, and James is on shite pay, but we did splurge on a new couch/sofa bed and an awesome new mattress. We've got awesome vintage timber tables (study and dining) to add to the lot as they were passed down from James' side of the family, but we DO still need to get dining chairs, a washer and dryer. His mom has kindly offered to do our laundry for the moment so we didn't need to 'rush into buying more appliances', but I want to do my own laundry, damn it; and preferably not have dog and cat hair on them when they're out of the wash. >.> (That's the trouble when you only have one washer for all the human and pet washing, I guess.)

Anyway, I missed taking food photos, and since I don't have my usual buddies to hang out with at cafes taking photos, I had to resort to *le gasp* making some tuna puffs and photographing them while we're still living at James' family home. XD

Can't wait to move into the new place and photograph in my own kitchen! Wheee!
Hopefully the internet won't take too long to be set up - just applied for it online; apparently it's usually done in 5 working days?

If anyone wants to add me on DA (let me know your id too!).
I'm so not familiar with the layout of it all and I'm more of a Flickr whore, but hey, I'm bored. >.>

Life: Updated

Oei.

Can't believe it's been a fortnight since I last updated LJ and that I've actually been in Newcastle for nearly as long. >.>

Can't say I'm loving life at the moment - in sort of a limbo stage, really. Crashing at James' mom's place while we wait for the tenants in his place to leave in a few weeks' time, so in the meantime, I haven't really been doing much. Not that I can, really, when I don't drive have no car and public transport is shocking here. DX

All my dolls (except Jelly) are still back in Newcastle waiting to be transported here when I go back this weekend to pick them up. Can't say I miss them much, really. I haven't even been inclined to photograph Jelly at all while I'm here.

I have, however, been brushing up on taking non-dolly photos:

Moar pretty flora under cut! )

ARGH.

They're not going to all fit in there. DX

WHY WON'T THEY ALL FIT!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

O hai thar!

I haven't been updating LJ lately, but I've been keeping up with my f-list though!
Thought I'd share a few photos of the repaints I'd just finished as a lame excuse for a LJ entry. X3

Latidoll Yellow Miel - so adorable I just want to nom on her. X3

3 more faces under the cut! )

No, I don't like cheesecake

Homebaked raspberry cheesecake tart made by my mom this evening.
It's such a shame I don't like cheesecake at all, no? >_>
I did, however, snag all the berries for myself after I took this photo.

U-noa twins

Sist is the older, more assertive and confident twin; Lusis is the sweet, naive younger twin with freckles.
Both are on their way home now. Huzzah for express post! :D

Have a few more heads to repaint in the next week or so. Finishing up a Latidoll Miel tonight (gawd, I hate attaching upper lashes. DX), and I'm going to attack the Io next because he has lips of awesome.

Doll meet tomorrow too with the usual B gang. Can't wait! It'll probably be my last meet with the melbourne folk before I move. ;__;
